5 Things You Can Gain By Flipping Websites
More than $200,000 change hands every week in the website flipping world. I don’t personally participate in website flipping (for specific reasons that I will explain next time), but it doesn’t mean you can’t. I’m sure you are smart enough to make that decision for yourself.
To make your decision more informed, I want to outline 5 things that you can gain from participating in website marketplaces. One of the biggest benefits is that anyone can join - it’s that easy to get in. There are no licenses, no setup costs, no certifications, and no legal fees to get started.
Another good thing about website flipping is that you can start by learning one skill and work your way up from there. You don’t need to be an expert at everything to begin. In fact, it gives you a chance to learn one thing at a time as you go along. You can focus on learning to build websites, drive traffic, or create income streams - one at a time.
You can also use it as an exit strategy. Building online business is not always an easy job. Sometimes you might want to get out of a market or consolidate your efforts. But if you’ve built a number of income-generating websites, simply shutting them down may not be the best option - you can sell them (at 5-8 times the monthly revenue) to someone else. The money you earn from this can finance your new passion.
If you have enough cash available you can participate in the website flipping world as an investor. Buying established websites is an easy way of adding extra income streams for yourself. If you’re careful and buy websites that are low maintenance but have high earnings and growth potential, you can make good money with it.
Finally, even without directly participating in buying and selling websites, you can still gain something by watching what’s going on in the marketplace. Any successful investor will tell you, that the best time to get out of a market is when everybody and their dog start getting in. You can watch the website marketplaces for competition signals - if there are a lot of similar websites popping up for sale, it can be a good sign that that particular market might not be worth your efforts.
