How to Make Money with Your Website - Part 6 - Premium Areas
Up until now, we’ve looked at forms of advertising – regular (CPM) , contextual (PPC) , affiliate (CPA) , and Amazon/eBay widgets . Today it’s time for something completely different – offering paid services that supplement the main (free) content.
You can find these called all sorts of different names – premium services, private sections, members’ areas (I’ll use “premium areas”) – but they all do the same thing: separate one group of visitors from another.
Premium areas separate people who only want the basic offer (or only the free content), from people who are willing to pay to get more. Premium areas create exclusivity. This works great because people want to be in , if some people are left out .
People want what is private and exclusive. As you gain the trust of visitors with your content, more and more people will want to join your premium areas, and become part of your inner circle.
Here are just some of the ways how you can create a premium area on your website:
- Paid forum for your community
- Special resources available to members only
- Unlimited access to the archives (whereas regular users can only access the newest content)
- Special offers and discounts
- Personalization options
If these are not enough, I’m sure you can think of many more that will fit your website even better. If you have any thoughts on this, feel free to leave a comment below.
