The Bigger Fool and Website Flipping

If you’ve read the news even badly over the last 12 months, I’m sure you’ve seen the Bigger Fool Investment Strategy at work. It’s very simple, really - all you have to do is buy a property at a foolishly high price, and find a bigger fool to sell it to at a huge markup.

By now everyone knows it’s been going on a lot in the real estate flipping world. What everyone doesn’t know, is that it also goes on in the website flipping world. It’s much less prominent with websites, primarily because it is a much more transparent market.

There are many different marketplaces out there for websites. Some of them have typically higher valuations than others for very similar websites. If you spend some time and put in a bit of effort, you can make quite a bit of money from arbitrage .

If you want to do this successfully without being the bigger fool , you will need to really watch and understand the different people involved in different marketplaces. You need to know what each community values most, and what they have to offer.

When you understand the people involved in the different markets, you can become a very successful website flipper - buying websites in one market and selling in another. Be careful, though, and follow the Warren Buffet rule of investing if you want to make money - look for websites that are undervalued.
